This box set by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs contains 17 of the albums Sinatra recorded for Capitol Records in the 1950's & 60's. See photos for listing of the albums. One disc reproduces 2 albums that were originally issued on 10 inch LP's, hence 16 albums in this set. The records are in a special static free sleeve inserted in a heavy duty protective jacket that reproduces the original album cover and back along with addition info on the musicians used in the recording session. Issued in a limited pressing of 10,000, this set is # 6038 and was made in Japan by JVC on their proprietary Super Vinyl, an exceptionally resilient, dead-quiet vinyl compound. These records were mastered at half speed: both the tapes & the cutting lathe were run at 1/2 the normal speed allowing the cutting head to cut a more accurate groove in the acetate. The finished product featured dead-quiet vinyl, with better dynamics, imaging, and tighter bass.
This set belonged to my brother who was a huge audiophile and took immaculate care of his records. It does NOT have the Geo disc and I can't ask him what happened to it since he has passed away. The records look to be in mint condition but I've listed it as near mint and the box has some scratches on it but the corners and edges are solid. This box set sold for $350 in 1983 dollars.
