FRANK ZAPPA Lumpy Gravy (UK) Verve 2317 046 Select
This is a 1972 UK 2nd Verve Select pressing of Frank Zappa's 1st solo lp, "Lumpy Gravy". FZ's first attempt at a serious scored modern composition. A great sound collage document of where Zappa stood musically in late 1966.
Dead Wax Info: Side 1 has 2317046 A//1v4 12 3 06 all stamped into the dead wax. Side 2 has 2317046 B//1v420 12 1 5 06 all stamped into the dead wax. 2nd UK Verve Select press (1972).
Vinyl Visual Grade: NM with great gloss and a few light marks. VERY FEW. Labels are pristine with no visible marking. Appears unplayed (I bought it as such...but played it through once...probably not all the way through either). Could use a good cleaning to clear the dust.
Vinyl Play Grade: NM with GREAT fidelity and very little noise. An excellent listening copy, probably as good as you will find of this pressing. Would be near impossible to upgrade.
Cover Visual Grade: VG+ with great gloss and very minor wear on this delicate MacNeill gatefold. There is some rubbing wear near the bottom front and some minor pressure marking rear cover. Spine is VERY nice. Top seam (vinyl pocket) has a 2" split just starting at top. Bottom seam shows a wee bit of wear. Overall really sweet.
Comes with original UK rice-plastic lined die-cut printed paper inner. Vinyl is housed in an heavy plastic Audiophile style inner.
Hello all. My name is Jamie and I have been collecting records for 40+ years. It is time to trim down my unmanageable inventory. My tastes run all over the sonic map, so there should be something for almost everyone.
ALL records will have been visually inspected under BRIGHT incandescent light with extreme scrutiny.
ALL open records will have been play graded using a Thorens TD 165 turntable and Yamaha amplifier (JBL reference headphones). Treble set high so nothing will be hidden in my grades. My grading is as follows:
M or Mint - NOT USED as there is no such thing as perfection.
NM or Near Mint - No significant markings - sealed or RARELY played.
VG+ - Minimal marking - none of which significantly affects fidelity of lp.
VG - Minimal to modest marking which affects lp but not to the point of distraction.
G - Modest marking but still VERY listenable, depending on your ears.
I WILL NOT SELL ANY LP AT LESS THAN G UNLESS THERE IS SIGNIFICANT HISTORICAL VALUE ATTACHED TO THE LP.
ALL COVERS WILL HAVE DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS OF ALL FLAWS.
I USE PROPER RECORD MAILERS WITH STIFFENERS AND PADDED CORNERS. I HAVE BOUGHT TOO MANY RECORDS ON EBAY WITH DINGED CORNERS FROM INSUFFICIENT PACKAGING. BY PADDING THE CORNERS WITH FOLDED BUBBLE WRAP (WHICH I DO) , YOU CAN BE SURE OF RECEIVING AN LP WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE CORNERS.
