RARE ORIGINAL US PROMO of this early Zappa single!! All early Zappa singles are very hard to find now as they did not sell AT ALL! This is so hard to find now and ideal for any FZ collector! One of Zappa's other 'cruddy attempts to get on the radio', this single was culled from his doo-wop homage album Cruising With Ruben & The Jets. I am not sure whether it was Zappa's or Verve's idea to release the single under the name of Ruben & The Jets but this single slipped under the radar pretty fast. Stock copies are virtually extinct. What we have here is a lovely yellow label promo. This is one of the hardest US Verve singles to find by Zappa. Interestingly, Deseri is in stereo (very unusual for a single at the time) but Jelly Roll Gum Drop is a COMPLETELY UNIQUE ALTERNATE MONO MIX!! It is handled completely differently to the original album mix, all of the backing vocals from the second verse are missing and this mix is a lot punchier! A great one for the collector! The album is still only available as FZ's shoddy 80s remix (sorry, Frank...) with new drum and bass parts - the only way to hear the original mix is by getting the vinyl or the equally expensive mail-order only Greasy Love Songs CD reissue. This hardly ever shows up now, especially in this condition! Great stuff! Hard to find these days! Don't miss out!
Vinyl is in VG+ condition : looks EX but plays with some surface noise and some light wear, still sounds great!
