Description

Selected titles from the private collection of a music business veteran are now being made available for the first time. Titles offered by this Seller are one-owner and came directly from the pressing plant, record company warehouse, other label reps or record store unless otherwise noted.

Grading is based on visual inspection.

Album ships in a 2 MIL poly cover sleeve and a 2 MIL poly inner sleeve.

I package records outside the cover to avoid seam splits.

New and vintage vinyl is hard to grade strictly using eBay’s system because the record and the cover are two different components. Therefore, I call a record new and mint if it is opened but has never been played.  I use the grading category to describe the cover condition.

The full title of this album is Las Mothers "Just Another Band From LA-RIFA".
  • The original covers of this album feature the text;
    "Any visual similarity between the cover of this album and the 'Uncle Meat' illustrated booklet (not to mention Ruben & The Jets) is thoroughly intentional and contains 4 secret clues". This text is in small type on the lower right front cover
    In addition, the actual full title of the album;
    "LAS MOTHERS - Just Another Band From LA - RIFA" adds a Pachuco cruisin' style to the appearance, whilst "Rifa" references Zappa's roots in Glendale and the Tooner Ville Rifa.

    In December 1971 Zappa was pushed from the stage of the Rainbow Theatre, London. He broke a leg and suffered permanent vocal damage, his voice dropping by a third in pitch. Zappa was confined to a wheelchair through most of 1972 and this is the first of 3 albums produced in that period.
    This album contains a new arrangement of "Call Any Vegetable" from Absolutely Free (1967).
  • This Mint Condition copy is a First Pressing that has never been played.
  • It was recorded live at Pauly Pavillion (UCLA) in August 1971.
  • Flo and Eddie are in this configuration of The Mothers.
  • The paper on board gatefold cover has tight seams and shows no wear.
  • The Promo sticker is on the back cover.
  • The original Bizarre inner sleeve is included. The 2 images are Zappa and Bizarre label founder Herb Cohen. I have added a soft poly inner sleeve.
  • This is a one-owner that the Seller got new from the Warner/Reprise (Bizarre's distributor) rep in his record store in 1972. It has been in storage for 46 years.
  • The price includes FREE SHIPPING and INSURANCE.
