Description
I have here an incredibly rare Australian issued Verve 45 by the Mothers Of Invention, 'How Could I Be Such A Fool' b/w 'Help I'm A Rock',circa 1966 from the 'Freakout' double LP set.This record was only issued in small numbers - reputedly 100 copies only,and one can imagine the reaction of programmers and DJs being a little lukewarm.As Zappa himself said, 'No commercial potential',and this 45 was returned to the library virtually unplayed.
As the pictures show,the record in in truly amazing condition with almost no evidence of being played more than a couple of times.There is only a slight evidence of a faint spindle line on both labels,no wearing or tears,or fading.There are pasted library reference stickers on both sides that could easily be removed if desired.The playing surfaces are almost as new - any specks or spots visible in the pictures are paper residue or dust and can be removed with a damp cloth.There is also a company paper sleeve in very good shape,but the paper is aging ( brown spots etc),and has some light creasing - still sound and all intact.
This 45 rarely turns up,and this one may just be one of the top few survivors left.I'm grading at EX++/M- or 9.5 out of 10 if you prefer.For the Zappa/Mothers completist,this one is surely a most sought after item,and is almost unknown in this condition.
