Description
This is Mercury Records MG C - 1001-2-3-4, Fred Astaire The Astaire Story Volumes 1-4, a graphic deep groove label original mono issue of these great recordings featuring Oscar Peterson, Barney Kessel, Charlie Shavers Flip Phillips and Ray Brown. The records, bought from the original owner, vary in condition from VG++ to near mint. None show much sign of wear and all play quietly throughout. The original owner said he only played them once. I have played them twice through. The glossy covers are excellent and intact *.
Volume 1 - Blue vinyl VG++ / label excellent but with hand written volume and side numbers (see photo10).
Volume 2 - Black vinyl near mint but with some age discoloration / labels excellent with no writing. Volume 3 - Black vinyl near mint as volume 3 / labels excellent but with writing as volume 1. Volume 4 - Black vinyl VG++ / labels excellent but with writing as volume 1
The records were played on a Linn Sondek LP12 in mono mode and cleaned on a VPI 17. This is a superb collector's grade copy of this wonderful original set. This is part of my personal collection that I will be selling (slowly) over the next few months and years. I hope you will join me on this adventure. Please check our other listings as we discount shipping for multiple wins. Thanks for looking. * There is some brown paper pictured on the spines of a few of these covers. After the pictures were taken, I found that the paper could be easily removed without any residue. There is no trace of the paper on any of the covers.
