Description
Blue Note is loved, revered, respected and recognized as one of the most important record labels in the history of popular music. This album presented music from “The Connection”, a play about drug addiction. The musicians - Freddie Redd, Jackie McLean, Michael Mattos and Larry Ritchie - played on stage during the performance but also appeared as actors.
Record Grading and Condition: VG This copy is a US Import bought in the UK during the 1960s and played regularly at that time. The disc has been inspected to find minor visible scratches and plays OK with some light noise.
Sleeve Grading: VG Minor scuffing and wear at the corners, discoloration of notes side due to usage and age. Plain interior sleeve (original Blue Note sleeve presumably lost).
Label & Authentication: Blue Note Records Inc, 47 West 63rd, NYC and RVG (Rudy Van Gelder) initials machine pressed into the run-out on both sides, dating production to 1958-62. However, the sleeve notes list the Blue Note address as 43 West 61st Street, New York 23 – Unclear as to the discrepancy.
Note to intending buyers: This posting is from a collection of Blue Note LPs of varying quality and rarity bought in the 1960s then stored until now. Each record on sale is over 50 years old, so I have tried to be deliberately conservative in stating rating levels of Very Good according to eBay guidelines. All feedback will be gratefully received.
