Description
Up for auction is the original pressing of a great instrumental Rhythm and Blues LP from Freddy King. Black label King mono LP.
Record is graded at EX-. Full gloss and virtually no signs of handling or use. This one requires a bit of extra explanation. You can see the letter 'S' stamped on the reverse of the album cover as well as the record label itself. Presumably this was some sort of inspection stamp applied at one of the Pressing plants used by King label, as I have commonly seen this stamp present on other copies of this same LP. On Side B of this particular LP the inspector must have been a bit careless because some of the gold/orange ink from the stamp dripped into the grooves on the last track and left the 3 tiny dots shown in the last photo. These dots do not adversely affect play except for a very faint "swish" on a couple rotations if you really strain to hear it. I didn't even notice any sound until I really concentrated to listen for it. I have NOT tried to clean the grooves on a VPI or other machine so it is very possible that the ink may wash off under the right conditions if their visible presence bothers you. Also it should be noted that typically any record with a defect like this I would typically drop immediately to VG+ at best but due to the fact that this record has barely a sleeve mark aside from the ink, I'm sticking with EX-. Also it plays immaculately and is such an enjoyable listen! Really a nice original copy of this record.
Jacket is VG+. Spine is very strong with no visible wear. Top seam is very strong with no visible wear Bottom seam has 3" split at open edge. Otherwise seams are strong and intact. Nice bright glossy graphics with very light corner wear and one light crease (visible on rear only). Back paste on cover is very clean and bright white except for the orange/gold 'S' stamp on the left and a visible blue band of ink on the right. I try to be overly thorough when describing all defects but this is a great looking album jacket overall!
