Description
This is the legendary "Astra", the second LP released in 1970 by this South African heavy progressive psych band. This is an original copy on the Parlophone label (Pcsj(D) 12066), This copy has some lamination separation on the front cover next to the spine. The lifted lamination has several small tears that are visible in the scans. This was very common on South African covers as the thick spines this country used put extra pressure on the lamination to separate when they where stored up against other records. There is a small amount of foxing on the inside of the gatefold (see scan). This all makes the cover a conservative VG. The disc however, is much nicer at a strong VG++ (I don't use the EX grade). There are a few faint spindle marks on the labels but the vinyl doesn't look like this copy was ever played much. It is bright and glossy without any sign of groove wear. There are some faint hairline sleeve scuffs which can be seen only under a very strong light source but these do not affect play. This LP was a progressive psychedelic masterpiece more advanced in musical ideas than most of it's US, UK and European counterparts of the time and is ultra rare as an original in any condition. This may be your last chance of ever scoring one this nice. This item has a reasonable reserve for a copy this nice of such an impossible rarity.
