Description

Friends Of The Maid - Friends Of The Maid
Rong Rung Records - HP-FM-001 (1984)

Track List

A1  Love Turn Around
A2  My Love For You Is Gone

B1  Waiting For A Chance
B2  Carolina Callled
B3  Ah! Sweet Mystery Of Life

Shimmering guitar parts and crystalline synth leads highlight the dance floor friendly A side, while the B side charts a path toward the avante garde, cabaret end of the New Wave spectrum.

While Brett Edgar (synth leads) later went on to form the psychedelic-flavored Red Red Groovy during the heady techno dance days of the 1990s, it's a shame that this self titled release is the only one available from this Minneapolis synth pop combo, as there's talent in abundance.

With only a few hundred original copies having been pressed, Friends Of The Maid is a rare slice of mind-Eighties underground synth pop from the lands to the northwest of Chicago.  : )
