Description

Dave Bartholomew, The Monkey Speaks His Mind b/w Cherry Pie, on Trumpet 500.  Really hard to find, funky updating of Bartholomew's legendary 1957 oddball R&B recording (which was just called The Monkey, and was released nationally on Imperial).  This record is from the mid-60s, and is on a New Orleans label that I believe was Bartholomew's own.  Hilarious lyrics and a great groove throughout.  Disk is weak VG, with full original gloss and lots of light surface scratches, but nothing heavy or deep.  Record plays very well with great fidelity and a bit of surface noise in the background.  B-side, which is a lot less interesting, has a little hit of noise on the first four revolutions.  In any case, a very decent copy of a legit and very cool rarity.

Grading

MINT-  Perfect or virtually perfect.

VG+ Light marks, full shine, great looking record

VG  Still fairly shiny but clearly a used record, light scratches, will play well but with some surface noise

VG-  Played or used more heavily, lots of scratches, more pronounced surface noise, but still plays through okay

G  Rough record
