Vinyl   Die Platte ist in jeder Beziehung in einem neuwertigen Zustand. Fremdgeräusche sind nicht vorhanden. CD   Die CD ist in jeder Beziehung in einem neuwertigen Zustand. Sie weist keinerlei Haarkratzer oder sonstige Abspielspuren auf. Cover   Das Cover ist in jeder Beziehung in einem neuwertigen Zustand. Abnutzungserscheinungen sind nicht vorhanden.

VG = Very Good

• very good (engl.) = sehr gut

Vinyl   Die Platte ist gespielt und weist leichte Fremdgeräusche auf. Haarkratzer sind vorhanden. CD   Die CD weist minimale Haarkratzer und Abspielspuren auf, die den Hörgenuss jedoch nicht beeinträchtigen. Cover   Das Cover weist leichte Abnutzungserscheinungen auf.

Der Wert einer VG/VG-Platte beträgt 75% einer M/M-Platte.

G = Good

• good (engl.) = gut, ausreichend

Vinyl   Die Platte ist wiederholt abgespielt worden. Hörbar sind Fremdgeräusche wie z.B. leichte Kratzer. CD   Die CD hat mehrere, deutlich erkennbare Kratzer, läuft aber noch einwandfrei ohne Sprünge (Skips) durch. Cover   Das als G eingestufte Cover weist deutliche Abnutzungserscheinungen auf. Booklet und Backcover können aufgrund von eingedrungener Feuchtigkeit leicht gewellt sein.

Dennoch ist eine als G eingestufte Platte noch gut abspielbar und durchaus kaufenswert. Der Wert einer G/G-Platte beträgt 50% einer M/M-Platte.

W = Worn

• worn (engl.) = abgenutzt, aufgerieben

Vinyl   Überdurchschnittlich abgespielte Platte, Kratzer und Grundrauschen sind deutlich hörbar. CD   Die CD hat viele, auch tiefere Kratzer und Abspielspuren, die zu gelegentlichen Sprüngen beim Abspielen führen können. Cover   Das Cover ist sehr stark abgenutzt. Es hat eventuell einen größeren Wasserschaden, der die Seiten des Booklets teilweise zusammenkleben lässt.

Nur bei seltenen Stücken lohnt hier der Kauf. Als Richtwert: Eine W/W-Platte hat ungefähr 25% des Wertes einer M/M-Platte.

Die Kürzel + (Plus) oder - (Minus) werden an eine der obenstehenden Qualitätsstufen angehängt, wenn sich der Tonträger / das Cover keiner der Qualitätsstufen eindeutig zuordnen lässt. Beispiel: Ist eine Platte besser als VG, aber nicht mehr M, so lautet in diesem Fall die korrekte Bewertung VG+. Liegt sie aber doch eher im Bereich M, so lautet die Bewertung M- (wird oft als Near Mintbezeichnet).

F = Fair

• fair (engl.) = gerecht, gut genug

Vinyl   Die Platte ist akustisch völlig ohne Wert, da sie praktisch nicht mehr abspielbar ist. CD   Die CD ist so stark zerkratzt, dass sie beim Abspielen ständig springt oder der Abspielvorgang überhaupt nicht mehr gestartet wird. Cover   Das Cover ist zerrissen oder nur unvollständig erhalten.

Der Kauf einer solchen Platte geschieht lediglich zu Archivzwecken. Der Wert einer F/F-Platte beträgt maximal 10% einer M/M-Platte.
