(2-LP set) The 4th album from George Clinton’s funk/psych/rock outfit, originally released in 1972, is a double LP of epic proportions. Deep and heavy grooves propelled by the always amazing guitar, bass and keyboard work of Eddie Hazel, William "Bootsy" Collins, and Bernie Worrell, respectively. Equally sleazy, political, heartfelt, and just plain bizarre, America Eats Its Young was, and remains, one of the few double albums of the 1970s that warranted every single minute of wax. Reissued on 180 gram vinyl in a deluxe tip-on gatefold jacket.

A double album and worth every minute of it, America Eats Its Young makes for a freaky, funky, and aware good time. Compared to the endless slabs of double-album dreck that came out around the same time from all sources, here Funkadelic brought life, soul, and much more to the party. With George Clinton credited only for arranging and producing, here the mad cast he brought together went all out. Bernie Worrell in particular now had a new importance, credited as co-arranger with Clinton as well as handling string and horn charts on a number of songs. His surging, never-stop keyboards, meanwhile, took control from the start, with his magnificent lead break on the opening "You Hit the Nail on the Head" making for one of the best performances ever on Hammond organ. Bootsy Collins (credited as William) is also somewhere in the crowd on bass and vocals, while old favorites like Eddie Hazel and Tiki Fulwood, among many others, can be found. Perhaps to fill in the time, a few numbers from the first Parliament album, Osmium, two years before cropped up, namely "Loose Booty" and the hilariously sleazy "I Call My Baby Pussycat," here performed with a noticeably slower, dirty groove. The straightforward social call to arms appears throughout, with one song title saying it all -- "If You Don't Like the Effects, Don't Produce the Cause." Other winners include the vicious title track, combining everything from mysterious, doom-laden voices and weeping wails to slow, sad music, and the concluding "Wake Up," while "Everybody Is Going to Make It This Time" is a lovely, gospel-informed ballad that heads for the skies and hearts. There are more mundane concerns as well, such as "There Was My Girl," a quirky weeper, and the weird if smoothly delivered "Miss Lucifer's Love," with more than one target in mind. ~ Ned Raggett

At City Hall Records we understand that you want your LPs to arrive in the same condition they're described.  So, we pack them carefully in a cardboard mailer, insulated with thick cardboard pads on each side, and with reinforcement on the corners. We want to be sure you get your LPs in the same condition in which they leave our warehouse.

To get combined shipping rate (Request total from seller)

After you’ve used the Buy It Now button on each item:

1. Go to My eBay.

2. Click the Won link on the left side of page.

3. Click the Pay For All PayPal Items button on the bottom of the page.

4. Check your shipping address. If any information is incorrect, click the Change shipping address link to update it.

5. Confirm the order details, including shipping and taxes. Click the Continue button.

6. Click the Request total from seller link to request total.

Wait for us to modify the shipping rate on the invoice which we will send you the first business day after you’ve done this.  

Sealed LP Inspection Service

Since all of our items are factory sealed we cannot be fully responsible for the condition of the invisible part, unless (you ask us to) inspect it.  Even though incorrect, defective or damaged product is very rare, we highly recommend that you allow us to inspect your item before we ship it out.  Just let us know by writing INSPECT in the note to seller box when paying via PayPal.

If there is something wrong with your record that could only have been seen by such inspection, and you did not request it, we will not be responsible for the cost of shipping the faulty product back here, or for the shipping of a replacement item to you. We will replace the faulty item, however, as long as you pay for these freight costs.

Also, many LP buyers prefer to have the disc shipped outside the jacket to minimize damage to the jacket.  If you have requested that we inspect the disc, then we'll pack it outside the jacket.

We enclose an actual invoice with your shipment and do not falsify customs valuations.

If you are at an address where there are customs duties, and you have ordered an amount that puts you just over the limit for avoidance of such duties, we're willing to do you the service of discounting the merchandise a little upon request, if you'll allow us to make up for it with an equivalent increase in shipping and handling fees. We'd want your agreement to give us good rankings for fair shipping/handling fees in such instances.
