GALLIARD -

STRANGE PLEASURE

DERAM NOVA

1st UK Press 1969

SDN 4

This auction is for a rather splendid copy of the very rare Galliard first album. This is an archive/museum copy with 1 or 2 plays maximum and I think side 2 is probably unplayed. This one is hard enough to track down in the first place. I believe you will not find this in a better condition ever.

1st album by the brilliant British early Jazz-Rock Fusion band Galliard, which somehow slipped into obscurity in spite of the fact that they were as good as any of the famous bands of the genre, which enjoyed enormous success, like Blood, Sweat & Tears for example. The band comprised of trumpeter Dave Caswell (who composed 2 of the tracks on this album, guitarist / vocalist Geoff Brown (who composed the rest of the material), bassist Andy Abbott, lead guitarist Richard Pannel, drummer Les Podraza and saxophonist John Smith, but was expanded by additional brass players during the recording session: saxophonist Lyle Jenkins, trumpeter Harry Beckett, trombonist John Hughes and others. The music is excellent, typical of the era, with unexpected turns and twists and superb brass arrangements, often quite complex and always beautifully executed. This is a true lost gem and Jazz-Rock Fusion / Prog fans not familiar with this heavenly music should embrace it with joy. Most warmly recommended! (review : rateyourmusic.com)

Vinyl: EX+ . Great heavy barely played first UK press vinyl. A sublime heavy glossy vinyl.  Under a strong light only the very lightest wispy retraction paper traces can be seen. Any LP will have this as soon as they are taken out of its sleeve. These are totally invisible in normal light. I subjected the record to a detailed listen on my high end system (Linn Sondel / Arcam/ B&W) and it sounded sensational. This sounded better than any re-issue like only a first press ever can. Lovely channel separation without any distortion or crackle.  This vinyl will be an upgrade for most and this is close to NM even visually.

Sleeve:  EX+.  Single front laminated sleeve and the original one for this first UK press version. Barely any storage wear. There are NO creases.  This is a very hard sleeve to find in such fantastic condition. This copy is well preserved and has been carefully stored as all other albums from this wonderful prog collection.  A super beautiful spine without any wear at all. The opening is just super crisp. NO STORAGE WEAR!  A fantastic upgrade!! More from this wonderful collection will be listed in the near future. This looks just immaculate and is an absolute upgrade for most psych/prog collectors!! Needless to say, NO creases, NO writing, NO tears or damage etc.
Labels: NM.
The original blue printed inner is also there in EX condition with poly liner attached.

This is a unique investment opportunity!!! The next prog album to go completely through the roof. Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. Get this while you still can. This value of the album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price.

Important : International postage will be registered and insured if over GBP 30.00.  Please wait for my invoice before paying. Postage will be according to Royal Mail rates. Postage is NOT a money spinning exercise for me.

Though there are rarely ever any problems with my items, I always try my very best to describe everything exactly!  PLEASE REMEMBER to contact me FIRST,  if you have any problems at all, before you leave feedback and star ratings, so I get a chance to turn any negative experience into a positive one!  I can always happily sort anything out for you, if you let me know you have a problem!  This way no one has to leave Negative/Neutral feedback - and we both walk away happy! Similarly with the amount of stars, anything less than a full 5 * rating is effectively detrimental to a seller's rating as lower ratings will incur higher Final Value Fees  and lower priority in the bidlists eventually making it unattractive to list items on Ebay at all. I know of at least one major previous Ebay seller who has decided not to list via Ebay again. Please do NOT bid if you cannot give me at least 1 chance to sort everything out to your FULL satisfaction in the unlikely event of a problem.  Thanks again!!

This an excellent investment opportunity!!! Any questions please ask me and I will try to answer soon
