Description
Up for auction is a very rare original issue LP by Gary Wilson entitled "You Think You Really Know Me." This album has achieved legendary cult status among collectors of oddball, "real people" DIY albums. When original copies appear on the market, they generally sell for $200 and upwards. And those copies are generally not in NM CONDITION WITH THE ORIGINAL INSERTS like this LP!
Gary pressed copies of this album himself and mailed many of them to radio stations around the country. Most of these copies were destroyed or lost over the years. You will hardly ever see original copies of this album, especially with the ORIGINAL INSERTS in pristine condition like this copy. CONDITION OF COVER: Near Mint Minus (NM-). A gorgeous example of this scary cover. There is the slightest bit of ringwear and wear to the edges but otherwise like new. Possibly the most disturbing back cover of all time!
CONDITION OF VINYL: Near Mint (NM). Amazing copy appears to have been played maybe once or twice at the most. Looks like new.
CONDITION OF INSERTS: Excellent. Included with this album are 2 original inserts: a copy of the lyrics and an unbelievable photo of Gary signed (facsimile) "to my girlfriends." Both these xerox inserts are on 8.5" x 11" thin paper stock, which is the way they came in the original LP (no doubt copied by Gary himself at a local store!).
Please note that my grading is very strict.
This is truly a premium copy of this rare LP. Prices are only going to continue to rise on this LP, as most surviving originals are in various collections and will not be offered up for sale in the foreseeable future.
