This vinyl is pressed on the collectable small Charisma 'Mad Hatter' Label and comes complete with the original textured gatefold and inner sleeve.

Visual grading

This vinyl retains a glossy sheen and has not been played a great deal as there is not very much spindle wear.  It has been very carefully handled down the years as there are only a small number of faint hairlines caused by sleeve removal and there are no scratches.  The run out grooves are also extremely clean.

Play grading

'Dance On A Volcano' has only very faint static (and I mean faint!) on the intro and then plays with wonderful clarity and no other 'background' apart from a little static on the quieter middle section.  'Entangled' has 3/4 light clicks and some static on the opening section but it still plays very clearly and is a very enjoyable listen.  The choruses play beautifully and whilst there is some static/minor crackle on this track it isn't particularly intrusive.  'Squonk' has no issues and is stunning from beginning to end with no interference.  The intro on 'Mad Man Moon' has only a few very light static sounds and plays in sublime fashion when you consider how quiet it is.  The remainder plays with stunning clarity and precision and is easily one of the best versions I have ever heard on such an early pressing.  The extended piano section has wonderful sound quality and the mega quiet ending is stunning. 

'Robbery, Assault and Battery' on S2 is so impressive and grades as Mint- without question.  The power and depth cannot be beaten, it is just superb.   'Ripples' has a little background static on the intro that is totally non-intrusive and then proceeds to play with stunning audio.  A little static again on the quieter sections but I only mention it to be thorough in my grading and it does not intrude on what is a great listen.  The louder sections play incredibly well with no interference or distortion.  'A Trick Of The Tail' impresses with very powerful audio and only light static that is perhaps a little more prevalent on the end section.  'Los Endos' ends the album with some ubiquitous background static on the intro but again this isn't intrusive and then has immaculate sound.  There is no other 'background' and the power and depth here is incredible.  The fade out has no interference whatsoever.  A great end to the album.

The Gatefold

The fully textured gatefold is in lovely condition with hardly any shelf wear.  The edges and wide spine are extremely clean with no rubbing and even the corners remain in superb shape.  The opening edge has next to no handling wear also.  There is very faint fading here and there around the edges and also four very faint scratch marks on the front cover that you can only see when held at a certainly angle.  The back cover and especially the inside of the gatefold are in immaculate condition.  This is a great example of this cover and any wear is purely superficial.

The small Mad Hatter labels have no writing or marking, just some light spindle wear.

Inner Sleeve

Made of thick card this is in near perfect condition with no splits and only has a couple of faint fingerprint type marks.
