ORIGINAL RELEASE ! - EARLY STEREO PRESSING - ... GENESIS ...
- "From Genesis to Revelation" -
Note: This is a private sale - from my own, personal, collection - I am not a record dealer.
This comes as a single sleeve album with a distinctive High Gloss laminated Black/Gold front cover ... ... and Black/Gold, mildly textured, un-laminated reverse.
It's the subsequent STEREO variant of this album (DECCA (boxed)) - which followed hard upon the previous Mono Release of 1969.
This succeeding 1970 stereo release, contains the separate Red Inner Lyric Sheet featuring the word 'STEREO'
(and not 'Mono/Stereo' as designated on the first 'trial' 1969 Stereo release).
Produced by 'infamous' Jonathan King - and featuring the second of three drummers before Phil Collins took charge.
It still plays beautifully on my unforgiving Bang & Olufsen turntable - with no scratches/jumps to spoil the 'vinyl value'.
Some faint 'vinyl ambience', of course, as the stylus runs in and runs out - but it was never often played.
Time to let it go - to someone, somewhere - who can appreciate it - and make better use of it now - than me.

Front Cover: ... shows some laminate fatigue: two corner creases and along the spine where laminate adhesion has failed.
The shelf-stored disc has caused the laminate surface to scuff VERY SLIGHTLY. Guaranteed no gouges, cuts, rips, writing, stickers or such. Minimal bruising to all four corners. Simply: an impressive, clean, very glossy , example.

Rear Cover: ... shows abrasion of the matt black from shelf storage - and a small pressure mark ... ... but free from other significant marks, gouges, writing, etc.
CONDITION - The Paper Inner Sleeve See image. Has discoloured somewhat around the edges - with staining from the old adhesive. Otherwise wholly original - with the poly inner still intact and free from rips, punctures, tears, etc.
CONDITION - The Paper Lyric Sheet See image. This single colour (red)/double side printing bears just the STEREO moniker ...
... so you will know that this is the first official UK Stereo pressing (not the preceding Mono/Stereo version).
Very clean, very sharp, no discolouration, no creasing; very light handling. As good as when first new.
CONDITION - The Vinyl (Apologies for my dodgy images ... they seem to show a myriad of dust flecks on the 'close-ups' ...
... a matter which actually betrays just how clean, well kept and free from dirt this album is.
An oversensitive camera, bad lighting and an amateur photographer is my excuse!)
Let's be clear: the vinyl is in really excellent condition - i.e."Very Good Plus/Near Mint" condition. All surfaces have always been kept carefully cleaned and (as humanly possible) kept scrupulously dust-free. And, under scrutiny of my 'natural light' task lamp, there are NO scratches - simply subtle sleeve removal scuffs.
I've play-tested both sides and can report a flaw-free audio performance: no skips or scratches to spoil the enjoyment. Just the typical vinyl 'ambience' when the stylus touches down and between tracks. Simply: clean and crisp.
I've owned this since the beginning - with only light handling since then, stored amidst all my other vinyl.
CONDITION - The Record Labels Impressively clean and free from spindle marks (testimony to its infrequent playing!)
OVERALL CONDITION and 'SIGN OFF' ... I have described the content and condition of this item honestly and in good faith ... ... in order that you can be sure that there are no nasty surprises !
I am not a record dealer, as I have said, but I have been strictly guided by the Discogs 'Goldmine Standard' grading, by my own visual inspection and by my own test-playing. x
So, simply and finally: THE VINYL - I would describe as VERY GOOD (plus) to NEAR MINT, - with near perfect Audio. THE ALBUM COVER - I would describe as VERY GOOD - with light shelf wear and natural lamination fatigue.
Certainly not 'Mint/Pristine' ... but, compared to similar rarities, it's WELL ABOVE AVERAGE!

As has been pointed out to me, the original first (1969) pressing of this album was MONO - and featured an 'unboxed' DECCA motif on the label.
There then emerged an early 'stereophonic' pressing ... which, in turn, was upgraded to 'Full Stereophonic' - and was accompanied by a 'boxed' DECCA motif on th label.
This early pressing is the latter, FULL STEREO, version which emerged in 1970 (though still date-marked 1969) ... and is accompanied by a separate Lyric sheet which, similarly, is marked not Mono, but Stereo.
I hope this clarifies the subtle differences between the two early variants.
