Absolutely very scarce these days on the Pink Scroll label as most have been bought up now. I hadn't seen one for over two years before this one turned up!! This one is in amazing EX+/NM condition, an absolute upgrade/archive copy for most experienced collectors!!
"Nursery Cryme is a true classic, displaying the immeasurable growth the band had made since they were a cadre of quixotic youths who'd sing charmingly disarming pop songs about the Garden of Eden. The group were immensely talented even from the beginning, but until now they had yet to fashion a unique identity for themselves. As entertaining as their debut was, it was, ultimately, traditional (save for the lyrical matter) pop, bereft of anything to truly distinguish the band from other talented pop groups. Trespass came off as uncomfortably close to trend hopping, latching onto the progressive rock bandwagon in an attempt to dispel the shame of their terminally unsuccessful first outing. But on Nursery Cryme, everything comes together, from Gabriel's one of a kind, highly distinctive lyrics to the band's unique sound. Genesis had found their identity, resulting in a prog masterpiece that was easily their best work to this point in their careers. (review allmusic.com)"
On offer here is a VERY rare LP (especially in this condition!!!!) by GENESIS called "nursery cryme" and is an ORIGINAL 1971 UK 1st Pressing on the 1st Press CHARISMA PINK SCROLL label!!!! THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND!!!! THIS IS ONE OF THE RAREST LPS ON THE CHARISMA LABEL AND VIRTUALLY NEVER TURNS UP FOR SALE!!!! JUST TRY AND FIND ANOTHER ONE!!!! BACK IN 1971 WHEN THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED - IT ONLY EVER SOLD IN ABSOLUTELY TINY AMOUNTS, AND WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY DELETED!!!! AS A RESULT IT IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND INCREDIBLY HARD TO LOCATE TODAY!!!! NOT ONLY THAT BUT THIS LP IS IN BRILLIANT CONDITION - AND CLEARLY HAS BARELY BEEN PLAYED!!!! JUST TAKE A LOOK AT THE PICTURES!!!!
This is a bit special really as the condition of this album is in one word "fabulous". This will be an upgrade for most discerning collectors and does not show up very often in this collectible condition!!
Vinyl: EX+/NM. They don't come around in this kind of condition very often. This vinyl has barely been played. It hasn't got ANY hairlines or marks. This is the ultra heavy first press vinyl with "HILTOP" etched into the run-out groove. On replay (on my Linn Sondek/Rotel/B&W set-up, it only gets better. Great strong stereo separation with near silent (no crackle etc.) replay. This is the only way to hear this classic Genesis album. Needless to say this vinyl has no problems at all. NO jumps, NO skips, NO sticks etc.
Gatefold sleeve: EX++ to NM. Again this has to be seen to be believed. A properly looked after sleeve with barely any storage wear at all. Truly in time warp condition. This looks like it came just from the printers. It is in splendid overall condition and also benefits a beautiful crisp opening and 100 % spine. Barely any wear on the edges at all. The pictures tell all. The sleeve has no creases or wear whatsoever!! NO writing, NO rears, NO creases etc. There is nothing untoward like writing or stains. A top notch investment grade sleeve.
Although not a success at home upon its release Nursery Cryme became an unexpected hit in Italy, reaching No. 4 in the LP charts.[1] This spurred on Genesis' European success, with the album eventually reaching No. 39 on the UK charts for one week in May 1974, and the reissue reaching No. 68 for one week in March 1984.
"For Absent Friends" is a song about two widowed individuals going to church and praying for their deceased husbands/wives. This is the first song to feature Phil Collins as lead vocalist. Progressive prog/metal band Opeth wrote a short instrumental with the same name, as a tribute to Genesis on their 2002 release, Deliverance. Guitarist Steve Hackett recorded a waltz version of the song for Watcher of the Skies: Genesis Revisited, with vocals by Colin Blunstone.
This is a unique investment opportunity!!! The next prog album to go completely through the roof. Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. Get this while you still can. This value of the album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price.
Important : International postage will be registered and insured if over GBP 20.00. Please wait for my invoice before paying. Postage will be according to Royal Mail rates. Please note that after a spate of, what shall I call it, disappearances of my records in Russia and Italy I will only send records out fully insured and tracked. Please wait for my invoice after winning. Postage is NOT a money spinning exercise for me. All postage prices are the actual Royal Mail rates.
Though there are rarely ever any problems with my items, I always try my very best to describe everything exactly! PLEASE REMEMBER to contact meFIRST, if you have any problems at all, before you leave feedback and star ratings, so I get a chance to turn any negative experience into a positive one! I can always happily sort anything out for you, if you let me know you have a problem! This way no one has to leave Negative/Neutral feedback - and we both walk away happy! Similarly with the amount of stars, anything less than a full 5 * rating is effectively detrimental to a seller's rating as lower ratings will incur higher Final Value Fees and lower priority in the bidlists eventually making it unattractive to list items on Ebay at all. I know of at least one major previous Ebay seller who has decided not to list via Ebay again. Please do NOT bid if you cannot give me at least 1 chance to sort everything out to your FULL satisfaction in the unlikely event of a problem. Thanks again!!
This an excellent investment opportunity!!! Any questions please ask me and I will try to answer soon.
