GENESIS Selling England By The Pound UK 1st Press LP Rare lyric inner sleeve NM!
GENESIS Selling England By The Pound Charisma CAS 1074, 1973.
This is a superb original first pressing with the very rare lyric inner sleeve rather than the card lyric insert. The lyric inner sleeve is much rarer to find than the lyric card insert which also accompanied true first pressings.
The outer sleeve is the correct first issue made and printed by E J Day.
The record has the correct large mad hatter design with A-1U B-2U matrix numbers, which are the earliest for this UK release.
The following is a detailed description of the item condition:
VINYL: NEAR MINT
Matrix Numbers (machine stamped):
CAS 1074 A-1U 2 GL Porky-Ray (etched)
CAS 1074 B-2U 3 OR Pecko (etched)
The vinyl visually grades at Near Mint. The record still retains its full deep gloss and is in superb condition on both sides. Under an extremely bright halogen light it is possible to just make out very feint hairlines caused purely by inserting and removing the LP from its inner sleeve. Absolutely stunning condition original pressing vinyl.
LABELS: MINT both labels are clean with no writing or significant defects. I cannot see any trace of a spindle mark on either label.
SLEEVE: EX+
Sleeve manufactured by EJ Day, signifying an original copy.
The sleeve is in EX+ condition, it is an extremely clean copy, the spine and all edges are totally sharp and unworn. On close inspection there is a very small sticker removal mark in the top right hand corner of the front cover which has just darkened a very small area ever so slightly. This is a very minor quibble and prevents me from giving it a near mint grading as it is a wonderful condition copy.
LYRIC INNER SLEEVE: NEAR MINT
Extremely rare lyric inner sleeve version. The dark green lyric inner is in near mint condition. The record has been stored separately in a plain inner so the lyric inner has seen very little use or wear. A beautiful example.
This is a superb condition original copy of this LP, close to perfection and one of the very best copies I’ve ever come across. Bid with confidence.
Postage and Packing:
All records are been placed in a separate poly lined inner and stored flat outside the sleeve and then placed sealed in a re-sealable polythene outer prior to shipping. Records are then placed between square cardboard sheets before packaging into cruciform mailers especially designed for LP’s

Following requests I have now play tested this LP right through. The audio quality is simply stunning. Playback is clear, loud and with virtually no background noise. I would play grade at least Near Mint as it is simply a wonderful audio performance from this 1st press LP . Even in the quiet passages of songs such as More Fool Me the playback is pure and with almost no audible background noise. Wonderful!!
