GENESIS Selling England by the Pound Rare UK 1st Pressing LP Great EX Copy!
Genesis Selling England By The Pound Charisma CAS 1074. Released October 1973.

Up for sale here is a totally original 1st pressing of this classic LP, Selling England By The Pound. This is a true first pressing with A-1U B-2U matrix and correct E J Day pale yellow sleeve, and comes complete with the dark olive green thick card lyric sheet.
Gradings: -
Outer Sleeve: EX-
The first press EJ Day sleeve is in EX- condition, although many would grade this slightly higher as it really is a nice clean copy. There is just minor discolouration and wear, but no particular areas that are particularly affected. It is well above the average condition that these sleeves are often found in. There is just one notable point, being a small tear in the upper right corner of the rear of the sleeve, probably caused by the removal of a label at some point. It’s a relatively small area measuring 2.5cm by 1cm and given its location in the corner, doesn’t spoil the overall look of the sleeve too much. Overall a very nice condition example.
Vinyl: EX
The Vinyl is in EX condition. This is a really nice copy. There is light a light amount of very light hairlines visible when the LP is viewed under bright halogen light and a very small section not easily identifyable unless viewed at a certain angle in very bright light where the disc is slightly fogged (maybe affecting about 3% to 5% of the total surface area on each side). This plays through with no deterioration in sound quality, and overall this is still a nice copy that is significantly better than the average condition this LP is found in.
Matrix:
Side 1: CAS 1074 A-1U 1 RD (stamped) Porky – Ray (etched)
Side 2: CAS 1074 B-2U 2 H (stamped) Pecko (etched)
Labels: EX+
The Labels are in Near Mint condition – perfectly clean with a few light spindle lines which can been seen when viewed under a bright halogen light.
Lyric Inner : EX
The green card lyric innere is in EX condition and is printed on thick card. It displays no real defects and is an extremely nice example.
This LP also comes with its original generic inner sleeve which dates from the 70’s. This grades at VG+.
Overall this is a nice original 1st pressing complete with lyric card insert , and earliest matrix. Copies this good are very rare nowadays.
Postage and Packing:
All records are placed in a separate poly lined inner and stored flat outside the sleeve and then placed sealed in a re-sealable polythene outer prior to shipping. Records are then placed between square cardboard sheets before packaging into cruciform mailers especially designed for LP’s. These mailers are a high-grade type which reinforce the edges around the LP and as such they are larger and weigh more than standard mailers. My postage costs reflect the additional size and weight of the packaging that I use.
