GENESIS Selling England by the Pound UK 1st Pressing LP Lyric Inner Sleeve EX+!

Up for sale here is a totally original 1st pressing of this classic LP, Selling England By The Pound. What makes this one somewhat special is that it comes with the much rarer lyric inner sleeve, rather than the normal card insert. This is a true first pressing with A-1U B-2U matrix and correct E J Day pale yellow sleeve.
Gradings: -
Outer Sleeve: EX
The first press EJ Day sleeve is in EX condition, although many would grade this slightly higher as it really is in fantastic condition. This sleeve is often found with a lot of grubby marks and discolouration due to the predominantly pale-yellow colour. This copy has just a couple of small areas of discolouration on the front cover, with two extremely light creases and just one very small “thumb notch” type crease on the rear. None of these points really detract much from what is a lovely condition cover. All edges are sharp and generally unworn with the spine intact and text fully legible. Anyone would struggle to easily find a cleaner example of a first press sleeve.
Vinyl: EX+ (Visual) EX+ (Audio)
The Vinyl is in EX+ condition. This is a superb copy. Heavyweight original vinyl weighing in at exactly 150g with a fantastic deep black gloss shine. There are just a few very light hairlines and this copy rates about as good as I’ve ever seen. A stunning copy.
25/5 - I have now played the LP through in it's entirety and can confirm it plays beautifully, being very clear and with fantastic tonal balance. Background noise is minimal and at a low level throughout and never intrusive, but please remember this is a 45 year old LP and will never play dead silently.

Side 2: CAS 1074 B-2U 2 MG (stamped) Pecko (etched)
Labels: NM
The Labels are in Near Mint condition – perfectly clean with a few light spindle lines which can only been seen when viewed under a bright halogen light.
Lyric Inner Sleeve: EX+
The dark green inner sleeve is the much rarer insert found with this LP. It was made to actually house the LP rather than just a single card insert that came with the vast majority of copies. The sleeve is very clean with no significant damage. There is a very light crease on one side and a small area of rubbing to one seam although it remains unsplit. Really super example of this inner sleeve.
This LP also comes with a generic inner sleeve which dates from the 70’s. This is a bit creased and would grade at VG+.
Overall this is a really superb original 1st pressing complete with lyric inner sleeve, and earliest matrix. Copies this good are very rare nowadays.
Postage and Packing:
All records are placed in a separate poly lined inner and stored flat outside the sleeve and then placed sealed in a re-sealable polythene outer prior to shipping. Records are then placed between square cardboard sheets before packaging into cruciform mailers especially designed for LP’s. These mailers are a high-grade type which reinforce the edges around the LP and as such they are larger and weigh more than standard mailers. My postage costs reflect the additional size and weight of the packaging that I use.
