I’m selling off several superb early Genesis albums which are completely original first pressings, my knowledge of Genesis LP’s extends over many years so please bid with confidence. Please see my other listings to see the other great LP’s I currently have for sale.
Genesis The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. Classic 1974 LP CGS 101 Stereo.
This is a real gem. I’m offering a totally original first pressing of this LP complete with the extremely rare red competition insert only placed inside the very first run of this LP. The competition inner is particular to this LP because the catalogue number CGS 101 was stamped on all copies of the inner in the bottom right hand corner – see photos. The LP was issued in Nov 1974 and the inner states that the competition closes on 1.1.75 so those buying this LP would have had to hurry to submit it on time! The record has the matrix codes 1 A-2U ; 1 B-2U ; 2 A-2U ; 2 B-2U importantly with the Marketed By B&C Records credit on the Label, which came before the later Manufactured and Distributed Credit. Totally original and in superb condition.
Condition: Gradings are per standard UK Record Collector guidelines.
Outer Sleeve: EX++
The condition of the sleeve is quite remarkable, this sleeve is typically found with ring wear and dirty marks on it due to its pale colour, but this one has been really cared for and has virtually no marks of defects at all, just one or two very faint creases near the spine about 1-2cm long. To find this sleeve in this condition is incredibly rare.
Record Inners: EX
Generally clean and tidy, some minor creasing and one inner has a tiny split at one end, but overall they are very tidy. As with the cover the inners for this LP are often in bad shape, these are amongst the best I’ve seen for this LP

Records: EX/ EX- (Record 1 / Record 2)
A few hairline marks across the LP surfaces but nothing of real note and I suspect just wear from careful playing of the records. Again they are nice condition examples for an LP of 34 year vintage.
Competition Insert: EX+ (answers partially completed in pen)
Rare to find this with this LP. The competition insert is in great condition, with no notable defects. The answers to 5 of the 6 questions have been filled in with blue biro.
Overall a stunning original copy of The Lamb in superb condition and complete with extremely rare competition insert.
Postage is £2.95 for standard UK inland postage, £3.95 for Europe, US and rest of world £4.95. Papal preferred but UK cheques also accepted. Insurance is extra.
