GENESIS, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway A2U matrix B&C PORKY PECKO UK 2LP

	£		70
	$		93

UK LARGE MAD HATTER CHARISMA LABEL WITH B&C CREDITS ON LABEL IN FIRST ISSUE 'MARKETED BY B&C' MADE IN HOLLAND SLEEVE (only first pressings came in a Dutch manufactured sleeve, much the same as with The Who's first pressings of 'Quadrophenia') WITH ALL FIRST PRESSING GEORGE PECKHAM MASTERS (A-2U) EXCEPT DISC ONE, SIDE 2, WHICH IS A GEORGE PECKHAM CUT B-3U MASTER, DOUBLE VINYL LP IN GATEFOLD SLEEVE WITH NON-BEVELLED EDGE CARD INNERS (later pressings had the corner edges smoothed/cut).
Other details only on first pressing sleeves/discs are: 'Carpet Crawlers' is listed as "Carpet Crawl" on the sleeve reverse and inner disc labels, the B-sides of the inner disc labels are identical, the last track 'iT' is written in italics on both back cover and label.
There was never an A-1U pressing of this album as those metal masters were rejected. A-2U were the first masters. This set contains first pressing George Peckham 2U masters throughout except the newly cut Pecko B-3U master on Disc One, Side 2. As George Peckham cut both the B-2U and B-3U masters they are identical (it is likely that in the initial pressing of this set that this particular metal master detoriated faster than the others and was thus replaced before the album even reached the shops as a large pressing run for this now big-selling act was anticipated), having come from the same first generation tapes, simply a fresh laquer to create a new metal master - we could detect no aural difference when we made a comparison. This album is, essentially still a first pressing, albeit with a new mother used for Disc One, Side 2.

SLEEVE: VERY GOOD WITH SOME SHELF, RING AND EDGE WEAR, CORNER BUMPS, SOME SCUFFING OF WHITE AREAS WHICH IS UNFORTUNATELY FAIRLY MNORMAL FOR THIS UNLAMINTED SLEEVE. INNERS ARE VERY GOOD BUT HAVE SMALL SEAM SPLITS AT MIDDLE BOTTOM.

DISCS: VISUALLY THEY GRADE AS A CONSERVATIVE VERY GOOD+, JUST A LITTLE SHORT OF EXCELLENT MINUS. NO SCRATCHES AND BARELY ANY SPINDLE WEAR. THE CARD INNERS HAVE CAUSED SOME HAIRLINES AND MINOR MARKS, NONE OF WHICH ARE SCRATCHES, AND THERE ARE SOME LIGHT USEAGE MARKS THAT ARE OFTEN SEEN ON PREVIOUSLY PLAYED ALBUMS. ALL SIDES PLAY EXCELLENT MINUS, WITH ONLY THE ODD STATIC OR POP IN THE QUIETEST OF PASSAGES - AGAIN FAIRLY COMMON FOR GENESIS ALBUMS - WE'VE NEVER HEARD A COMPLETELY SILENT ONE EVEN FROM NEW, MAINLY DUE TO THE DYNAMICS OF THE MUSIC AND THE WAY THAT HAS TO BE PRESSED ONTO VINYL. OVERALL WE WOULD SAY THIS IS A VERY DECENT PLAYING COPY THAT SHOULD SATISFY ALL BUT A PERECTIONIST (FOR WHOM THE CD RELEASES MIGHT BE BETTER ADVISED). INCREDIBLE MUSIC THAT HAS ONLY IMPROVED DOWN THE YEARS, ON A VERY RESPECTABLE PRESSING.
