Description

This is "GIANT FOR A DAY", the 1st Press original vinyl LP, released by GENTLE GIANT back in 1978. I bought this STEREO album when it was first released in September 1978.  It is complete, as originally purchased, and contains the original inner sleeve and the GENTLE GIANT mask sheet
The LP is the original first pressing on the CHRYSALIS label and the matrix numbers in the vinyl runout are:

•

• Side 1  CHR 1186A //1 MASTERED BY CAPITOL CAP 11 3 SW-1-11813 F6
• Side 2  CHR 1186B //2 CAP MASTERED BY CAPITOL 11 5 SW-2-11813 F5
•

This 1st press release is documented on the DISCOGS website as follows: https://www.discogs.com/Gentle-Giant-Giant-For-A-Day/release/2333242
I use the Record Collector Vinyl Grading system, which can be viewed at: http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/RECORD-COLLECTOR-VINYL-RECORD-GRADING-GUIDE-/10000000001916909/g.html I use "+" and "-" where the condition sits between 2 grades to provide a more accurate description.
The vinyl is visually in superb MINT- condition, no visible spindle marks, no scratches and no marks, looking nearly new.
During playtest it also played superbly, like a new record, quiet between tracks, and is hence rated MINT- for audio.
Fortunately this LP was played just a few times initially and was then recorded to tape for future listening, which means that the vinyl has been preserved in superb condition.
The cover was unlaminated, but came with a sheen finish, which has stayed very clean, with good corners & spine with just tiny wear, and is graded as EX+
The LP is complete with the original inner sleeve containing lyrics, which is in lovely condition and the inner sleeve is rated EX+ It also contains the Gentle Giant mask poster sheet, which is in superb condition, and has not aged and the mask is rated M-
Generally, in fabulous condition, and hard to believe it is over 40 years old.
The record will be posted in a MusicMAX STRONG LOCKTAB  RECORD MAILER.
