Freshly remastered and expanded, this reissue revisits the peculiar, satin-lined universe of The Gentle People, the Brixton collective who once drifted through Rephlex Records like lounge musicians beamed in from some improbable parallel nightclub. 'The Soundtrack Of Life' glides forward with plush orchestral swells and a faintly mischievous pop sensibility, then 'Journey' floats on a buoyant electronic pulse that feels both starry and faintly kitsch in the best possible way. Elsewhere 'Emotion Heater' stretches into a slow, indulgent groove, luxuriating in dubby atmospherics and soft-focus synths. The expanded material brings further curiosities and includes Aphex Twin's careening remix of 'Journey', which nudges the band's satin lounge aesthetic into stranger electronic territory without disturbing its unhurried charm.
