Description
YOU'RE all familiar with GEORGE GERSHWIN, the composer of "Rhapsody in Blue," "American in Paris" and "Porgy and Bess." LESS familiar is George Gershwin, the life of the party, the irrepressible piano virtuoso! He did manage to make a few solo records in his busy career, all of which convey the sheer joy he took in entertaining at ritzy parties in New York and London.
Here, George gives out with unique pianistic renderings of songs from his latest show, "Funny Face": "MY ONE AND ONLY," "S'WONDERFUL" and "FUNNY FACE." You can just see the diamond-encrusted denizens of Park Avenue, leaning over the piano, listening raptly, interrupting with an occasional "Amazing!" and wild applause.
This rare, original 1928 English Columbia is graded V++, for some invisible groove wear. It's V+ on "One and Only," E- on "S'Wonderful" / "Funny Face"

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care.
