Description

1980 very scarce UK only vinyl LP on Black Noise records by George Harassment "Masai Sleep Walking" (BN 6). Musically to me very much like early Cabaret Voltaire, rather cut & paste too much info than too little.

The Homosexuals (1978–1985) The band's work during this period would lead to their later recognition as a pioneer of D.I.Y., along with such bands as This Heat, Desperate Bicycles and Swell Maps. They released few recordings during their initial lifetime, and most of what did appear was in small vinyl runs on self-funded labels. The bulk of the band's studio material was recorded at Surrey Sound during 1978–79 with producer Chris Gray; the 16-track studio was run by Gray and his brother Nigel (who produced albums by the Police and Siouxsie and the Banshees). Wizard refused to perform on "the circuit" and thus the Homosexuals only did a handful of gigs, and refused to do interviews. Despite this lack of visibility, their debut 7", Hearts in Exile, pressed in an edition of 2,000 copies, still managed to sell out in a few days.[3] A self-titled EP followed.

Black Noise records was a name thought up by Bruno Wizard founder of ''The Homosexuals'' when he was contemplating one afternoon about the dark matter in the center of a black hole in space. Fascinated by this dark anti-matter that was so dense, not even light could escape from it, Bruno wondered what kind of black noises would be heard in the core of this black hole, using the highest organs of our perception. Bruno envisaged Black Noise Records as both noun (a receptacle and transmitter of this macro cosmic music) and also verb (an active recorder of these sounds as they disturbed and resonated the very molecules of himself and fellow artists) hence the name.

The mother ship for this expression of cosmic activity was to be ''The Homosexuals'' Bruno invented a number of parallel identities, to chart his way through this alien territory. Thus was born George Harassment! Bruno had always felt that being in The Homosexuals (Pop Group) was like being in The Beatles, without ANY of the benefits, but with plenty of harassment. Bruno assigned the task of collecting some ephemeral space ditties, to his recently acquired guitarist and sometime fellow songwriter, Anton Paul Hayman. In order to protect his fragile new friend from the rigours of space exploration, Bruno assigned the protective armour of George Harassment to Anton for the misson to be called ''Masai Sleep Walking'' Bruno then went off on his own eternal misson called ''In Search Of The Perfect Baby'' / ''Nursery Chimes'' guided by his trusted avatar ''Sir Alick & The Phraser'' and his band of warriors the ''Prolific Urdos'' a number of other aliases we used on the 6 track e.p. ''Ici La Bas'' to describe the scratchings of Bruno, Anton & James Walton later to be immortalised as L Voag on ''On The Way Out''
CREDITS: Bass - L. Voag (tracks B1. B6) Featuring - The Homosexuals Performer - Bruno* (tracks all), Visa S. (tracks: A7) Voice - Zoe (10) Tracks A1, A5, A10)
All tracks were recorded at home. Some on 2 track Revo + some on Mono Portable cheapo cassette machine. All tracks mastered on cassette machine. Tracks: 10. on Side One + 1. 6. on Side Two Rough Mixes from Sloppy Sound Studios - Surrey. The first song on Side Two is sung by lovely 'Michelle' of Battersea. Love to the twins and L Voag for bass on Tracks 1. and 6. of Side Two and much inspiration on the rest. This album was cut at Pye Cutting Studios and consequently sounds terrible. Part collaboration: Unsound Engineer at Free Range Studios, London: Andrew Bailey.

CONDITION: The record has a handful of light scuffs & needle wear spots on it VG+ possibly VG. The cover is VG- with overall dirtyness to it + ringwear & edgewear (possibly Good) held a lot but not excessive wear for it's age seam splitting on the bottom middle, the semi gloss saved the cover from getting a lot of wear.

All records are BLACK VINYL unless noted & inserts/gate-fold covers/posters/custom inner sleeves will be noted in the description if they are included plus promo & cut-out marks stated if they are there also. I don't believe in hiding stuff & try to note most everything that should matter to buyers. All 12" vinyl on ebay is automatically listed as 33 1/3 rpm & 7" vinyl as 45 rpm (to save time on listing all this stuff) if you need to confirm speed on a specific item please ask & I can go check.
