GEORGE HARRISON
"A DARK HOARSE IN '74
Wizardo 300 Series WRM 374-A / WRM374-B (matrix #s)
1974
NM / EX
ONLY COLORED VINYL COPY ON EBAY AS OF 12-26-2018. Two listings with common black vinyl.
This particular copy is pressed on orange / yellow vinyl (see photos) in a red/green/black/white splatter pattern. Black disc copies are hard to find, but splatter vinyl is quite rare. Probably several thousand pressed for the entire world in 1974. Just saying.
Beautiful copy of Harrison's Dark Horse Tour on November 22, 1974 at the Tarrant County Convention Center in Ft. Worth, Texas. It would be 17 years before Harrison would again mount a large scale tour and it was of Japan. The press, initially dazzled with the prospects, soon reacted to Harrison's worn out voice by calling the tour the Dark Hoarse Tour, and even more belligerently calling Harrison the Hoarse Dork. This recording, while George's voice was raspy, is a pretty accurate document of one of Harrison's only two solo tours in the post-Beatles tears. I saw this very show in Ft. Worth, and was lucky enough to actually see George close up when he and a small entourage sneaked into the audience to listen for about 2 minutes to listen to the sound. My friend Roger Ford and I were so nonplussed that we didn't move, just stood there transfixed in the presence of a Beatle for crying out loud!
This is a monster piece if collect George Harrison, Beatles, Beatles solo releases or collect releases pressed on colored vinyl. I have this at $100 because I honestly think it is worth it. The small number of LPs pressed, the obscurity of the tour, the rarity of touring by Harrison as a solo act all lead me to believe that this is not just a collectable but is a piece of history. However, I will entertain offers, but I will probably hold off on making a decision on an offer or offers made until later in the offer period.
Thanks,
Ranimal
