GEORGE HARRISON
"bangla-desh / deep blue"
APPLE ACETATE
"Bangla-Desh" and "Deep Blue" were released on the APPLE label in England in 1971 as a seven inch single with the number R5912.
However, what we are offering here is an ACETATE which predates this official issue, it would be one of only a handful made.
Collectors will know that an 'acetate' is a 'one off' record made on to an aluminium disc covered in wax. (the aluminium core of the disc can be seen by looking at the spindle hole on one of the pictures). They are actually made with the reverse process of playing a record, a hot needle is used to cut the wax on a flat lathe. These individual recordings were used to preview the finished article or to demonstrate a particular song. Since they took the same time as playing the record to make (both sides over 6 minutes) they would have cut very few and, it is for this reason, they are so desirable.
I have listened carefully to both sides and compared them with the issued single and I would suggest they are a slightly different version: it sounds to me as if these are 'un-equalised' ( a process that levels off all the high and low notes and makes it better for broadcast and playing). The lucky winner of this lot can listen to their heart's content and try to spot the differences!
The condition of both custom made Apple labels are perfect and the playing surfaces are also in top condition.
This is certainly one of the most desirable Harrison and Beatles related discs I have had the pleasure to offer, Harrison fans will appreciate how important this particular title is especially with his close involvement with Bangladesh and the amazing Concert for Bangladesh triple LP. If you win this you may be the only person with one as I have never had one through our hands or seen one come up for sale before, good luck!

As with other rare items I am listing I would like to tell you a little about me to give you confidence in bidding and to assure you that these are absolutely genuine items. I am the managing director of the world famous BEANOS RECORDS and we have had our shops in South London for over 30 years. I write about rare records, appear on TV and Radio and constantly in the National Press. It is BEANOS LIMITED that are selling this most desirable item but I want to be your contact for any queries and, also, to take away the faceless negotiation that an important international auction can sometimes have. I can tell you everything you need to know about this auction lot if you email me with any questions and, you are welcome to visit our shop and view the actual item (by prior appointment) with myself. I have to point out that most of the goods I offer on eBay are also on sale in my shop and I might have to end an auction early if I have another buyer.
