GIL MELLE QUARTET LP - On Blue Note BLP 5054.  Original FIRST PRESS 1954 Mono 10" LP, DEEP GROOVE with the classic Blue & White labels and the 767 Lexington AVE NYC address on both clean labels.  Flat edge with RVG, "ear" and catalogue number engraved in the dead wax of both sides.  Thick vinyl, thick carboard cover.  The personnel:  Gil Melle/baritone sax; Lou Mecca/guitar; Billy Phillips/bass; Vinnie Thomas/drums.  The vinyl is in mostly strong VG+ condition (high sheen).  Last track on side 1 has a couple tiny scratch marks that may sound lightly for several spins.  Disc plays otherwise great.  The cover is excellent and displays nicely.  Some faint tape stains along edges.  Small # stamped on back.  NO seam splits, NO cut-out marks of any kind.  The songs are:  Quadrille For Moderns; Ballade For Guitar; Lullaby Of Birdland; Newport News; Metropolitan; Summertime.
