BERMUDA INN / MAKE FEEL GOOD ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by THE GIMMICKS produced by LEIF CARLQVIST . Original Swedish pressing on the DISCOFON label (DIS 117), from 1970. Outstanding, psychedelic double-sider by the legendary Swedish vocal group. By far their rarest and best recording. Basically, a creative freak-out, drenched in studio dub FX with funky drums and flute / experimental rock rhythms / lo-fi fuzz distortions / jazz horn section / groovy counterpoint harmony / scat and sunshine-pop-on-acid lead vocals. Really impressive music and actually quite dark and spooky on the killer BERMUDA INN side. Comped on Who Will Buy These Wonderful Evils for the Pebbles series. Imagine a Crystal Illusions period Sergio Mendes singers on LSD but waaay better :) MAKE FEEL GOOD is also superb and out-sider sounding with its delicate folk intro that quickly turns aggressive and trippy with hammond / heavy basslines / lyrical free jazz breaks and psychedelic vocal harmonies. One of the ultimate strange pop singles from Sweden, for sure. All vocals sung in perfect English with a west coast Americana slant. Totally destroys the The Hellers / Free Design / The Silhouettes on Segue label and Roger Nichols sound. Both sides are exclusive to this holy grail single, recorded 6 months before their Mixed Up Lydia's Pickin' Up Painted Ping Pong Balls session. The fold-out, sepia paper card picture sleeve is to die for too. Bizarre group shot on the front and faux letter on the back asking for a studio contract. Original 4-prong centre intact. Never comes up for sale. Very rare 45!!!
