Ebay listings use the word "rare" too often, but this is really a very rare item: His Master's Voice ALP 1319 gold/red label: Beethoven's sonata in A Major, Op. 47 "Kreutzer Sonata" performed by Gioconda de Vito on violin and Tito Aprea on piano.
This record was first published in 1956; for sale here is the original UK release.
If you have not traded with me yet: i collect vinyl for over twenty years now. I take my records very serious and collect and appreciate classical recordings myself. All my rare items are cleaned, inspected in very bright light and playgraded. I have sold over a thousand records here on Ebay to happy buyers only, all over the world. Some of these records were very expensive, like the famous ASD 429.
Having said that, it is time to grade this item: first of all: it is not Mint. This is clearly a used record, so don't bid if you want a Mint copy: i am not claiming this record to be perfect: the record is sold as is, so please read well!
The sleeve looks great: almost all of the lamination is still intact and none of the seams are split or teared. But there is a small split of less than an inch at the bottom right opening.
Visually, the vinyl looks pretty clear under bright light: it still has lots of gloss and only some overall hairlines, but it also has a few tiny marks, that more or less will effect the playback. The labels show hardly any wear and judging by the lack of spindle wear, this record is used but not abused.
On playback, i have the problem that i do not have a mono cartridge, so i played the record on my very sensitive stereoset. Overall the record really plays fine; no loud pops or repetetive clicks and only a moderate background noise. On both side 1and 2, there are only a few 'loud' ticks, non repetetive and not really disturbing your pleasure. If you grade 10 for Mint, this still a 7 at least. I grade the sleeve at VG++ and the vinyl at a conservative VG+, but maybe that a Mono playback will be even better. The picture that i have made looks a bit pink, but that is just the flash of my camera: the sleeve really is purple/maroon.
So if you do not expect a perfect record, i am positive you will be able to fully enjoy this wonderful performance.
