This record is exceedingly rare. Giuseppe Verdi was the greatest composer of Italian opera, known to the history of music, and Verdi's Adia is generally considered to be the foremost of the composer's works. With the initial production of Adia in Cairo, on December 24, 1871, Verdi leaped head and shoulders over the best works of Rossini, Donizetti and Bellini and changed the entire course of Italian opera, laying the groundwork for Leoncavallo, Mascagni and Pucinni to follow. The artists of this masterpiece include Stella Roman, one of the most memorable of the Aidas of the world. A Roumanian by birth and an American by adoption, she was heard as Aida throughout Italy covering the major opera houses of La Scala and the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome. In America, she has been heard as Aida at the Met and in San Francisco, while her Met Opera Broadcasts were carried around the world. She was one of the most dramatic and wonderful Sopranos in the world. Alberto Paoletti was a regular member of the conductorial staff of the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome and was also a highly sought after conductor for Movie scores and was influential to many that came after him. This Record was recorded in a period of 9 days on three AMPX Machines from the stage of the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome. A chorus of 96 and an orchestra of 94 were used. Which was an amazing task. The vinyl is immaculate and a true mint with perfect gloss. The jacket has wonderful color and is vg++. The record you see is the one you will receive. I never use stock photos in my record listings.
