Description
CLIFF "UKULELE IKE" EDWARDS croons a couple of new (1927) ones, "GIVE ME A NIGHT IN JUNE" and "BROKEN HEARTED." Accompanied as always with his own "stealth" virtuoso ukulele, he sings with that patented voice, which eventually came to be known as Jiminy Cricket!
This is one of Cliff Edwards' last Perfect records, before he switched to Columbia. It's electrically recorded, one of the very few Perfects to be made thusly.
This scarce original 1927 Brown Wax Perfect 11649 is in somewhat compromised VV+ condition: Both sides have ripped grooves, which temporarily mar the sound, but only for a revolution or two.
PHOTO: Cliff Edwards, showing his versatility, simultaneously biking and uking around on the M~G~M lot in the early '30s.
*****
These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
