THE GIZMOS – Amerika First (EP). Gulcher Records GULCH 002. Issued in 1977. 7-track EP, plays at 33 rpm. TRACKS:  Amerika First, Human Garbage Disposal, Ballad Of The Gizmos b/w Kiss Of The Rat, Pumpkin’ To Playboy, Cave Woman, Regular Dude. PICTURE SLEEVE:  VG++, for a few light discoloration marks; printed on semi-gloss medium weight paper stock. VINYL:  VG++, play graded; small hole center. ENCLOSRUE:  Includes 8 ½ x 11 sheet, printed both sides, black on white paper stock, with track/band info and the flip containing the lyrics so you can sing along. MEMBERS:  Ken Highland, Ted Niemiec, Davey Medlock, Rich Coffee, Don Jaskukske, Dave Sulak, Eddy Flowers, and  Jim Devries. DESCRIPTION:  From Bloomington, Indiana, The Gizmos were a combination of  strong influences of the Dictators, the MC5, the Stooges, the Velvet Underground, 60s garage bands, and 50s rockabilly with a punk attitude. After the underground success of the first EP, another session in April 1977 yielded two more EPs: Amerika First, their second release, and Gizmos World Tour, their third release. Founding Gizmo and main songwriter Ken Highland went on to record with a long succession of bands, including O. Rex, the Afrika Korps, the Hopelessly Obscure, Johnny & the Jumper Cables, the Exploding Pidgins, the Kenne Highland Klan, and the Vatican Sex Kittens. Rich Coffee, who was one of the three Gizmos guitarists, has been in a long string of bands too, including Thee Fourgiven, the Unclaimed, the Tommyknockers, the Egomaniacs, and the Excessories. Eddie Flowers has led the ever-mutating Crawlspace since 1985.  Vinyl near mint, cover has wear.   Shipping cost is for lower 48 states USA only.
