This legendary single (b/w ‘That‘s All Right‘) was given to Campbell (before his chart stardom) by Beach Boys’ leader Brian Wilson, who also co-wrote and produced (‘Arranged and conducted’) the track. Campbell had stepped in for Wilson on live Beach Boys duties and this was sort of seen as a ‘thank you’.  This represents a real change in Wilson’s production skills and totally indicative of the near-future Beach Boys sound.
