This 2-LP set features works by Belgian avant-garde composer Karel Goeyvaerts (1923-93). Goeyvaerts met Stockhausen at the Darmstadt Summer School in 1951 and they became friends each interested in the possibilities of total serial composition and electronics. Later on Goeyvaerts compositions turned more toward minimalism. “Litanies” is comprised of five works “Litanie 1” for piano, “Litanie 2” for 3 percussionists, “Litanie 3” for orchestra, “Litanie 4” for voice, flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano & “Litanie 5”, for harpsichord and tape with Elisabeth Chojnacka, harpsichord. Fascinating works by this important & overlooked composer! Records are in NEAR MINT+ (appear unplayed) condition and gatefold jacket is NM. This great 2-LP set is seldom offered and highly recommended for anyone interested in avant-garde, electronic, experimental or improvised music, don’t miss it!
