Description

I am selling what I am assuming is a mega rare garage/psych band "DEMO COPY" 45 RPM record by a group called GOLD RUSH.  I don't know how many copies of this 45 were pressed, but the fact that the labels do not have a record label name leads me to believe that there were only a few copies made.  I searched the worldwide Internet, and I found absolutely nothing on this record, the group, the songs, or the songwriters Doutel, Windrum, and Wyrick.  The trail-off has the following etched in it.  The A side: "cw DOUTEL (2:15) , a symbol, and the numbers11791.  The B side: "cw DOUTEL (2:44), same symbol, and the numbers 11791.  The last number 1 on the A side appears to have been written over the number 0.  The A side tune is titled FANTASY FROM MARY, and the B side tune is titled TOUCH HER FACE.  Both tunes have upbeat melodies with a heavy emphasis on the lead guitarist who is actually quite good.  The guys do sing and the harmonies are not too shabby, but it is obvious that these guys were a garage band, and there is not much in the way of a creative arrangement on either song, except for the very talented lead guitarist.  I'm thinking that these guys must have been in high school when they recorded this 45, and the music sounds similar to 1960's psych.  I wish I could compare the sound of this group to someone you may know, but I can't.   Perhaps someone out there in "ebayland" will have heard of this group.  This record receives a grade of NM-, as it has not been played more than a few times.

Additional note:  Several people have asked me if I can give them a feel for the style of music on this 45, so I asked 5 different people who grew up in the late 1960s to early 1970s their opinion, and this is what they said.  Three people said the songs remind them of The Doors, and two people said the style is more like Cream, because the lead guitarist has a more psychedelic arrangement.  The two groups may be at opposite ends of the British music spectrum, but one thing's for sure; there is a definite British influence on both songs.
