GRITTY SOUL ROCK opus - their fourth studio album - from this hugely popular American band. The music is pitched in the direction of funky whit- man rock with roots in the sixties soul shuffle that spawned other Michigan reprobates such as Ted Nugent and Bob Seger. You know the score; heavy on the groove, loads of Hammond and pummeling drums. Proto metal sums it all up quite nicely. Check out the tracks 'Country Road', 'I want Freedom' and their brilliant cover of the Rolling Stones 'Gimme Shelter' for further proof.

Man of the match? Clearly that honour must go to vocalist and guitarist Mark Farner. What an amazing voice.

A hard to find thick textured sleeve.

This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.

Pressing: Capitol, USA, 1971 - Red label

Vinyl: Super clean and shiny condition - no spindle marks or any other signs of use. Possibly unplayed. Grades as top MINT!

Cover: Again, no signs of use. Issued in a beautifully illustrated textured cover. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no split seams and no creases. Spine is perfectly square, stiff and straight. Beautiful and impossible to find like this after 47 years. Grades as shop fresh MINT-!
