GRANT GREEN – I Want To Hold Your Hand ORIG Blue Note LP / BLP 4202 (US, Mono, 1965)
PLEASE SEE MY OTHER US BLUE NOTE LPs I CURRENTLY HAVE LISTED
Super all round original Mono press here from Grant Green – perfect LP for the coming summer months and also featuring Hank Mobley, Larry Young and Elvin Jones. Recorded March, 1965.
The single format, stiff, thick, non-laminated US-style sleeve is a brilliant example and shows NO creases, tears, splits, writing, corner dinks or bends. Great sharp opening edges and superb intact spine. Just s hint of rubbing to the bottom edge and light age spots on the rear panel. That’s about it – easily worthy of a true EX+ (Excellent Plus) grade. Note also it has the ‘43 West 61ST St, New York 23’ address to the lower rear.
The labels are just fine – one spindle line to one side but no writing, residue, scrapes or rips. Nice whiteness with no dirt or foxing. They have the ‘New York USA’ text. A fabulous pair of these vintage labels.
The vinyl is a lovely copy. Two super thin hairlines to Side 2 only but I can’t decipher much else. NO embedded dirt, scratches, wear or scuffing. Also grades EX+ (Excellent Plus). It has ‘VAN GELDER’ machine stamped into the run-offs both sides and an ‘ear’ symbol etched also. IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and plays superbly with only a few soft dust ticks noted to S1/T3 and that’s about it – the rest of this record plays without any impediment whatsoever. So that means NO snap, nasty crackle. No pops, no hiss and no distortion or loss of clarity. Plays with super sharp definition and you will not hear any groove wear or clipped frequencies. Superb RVG recording.
Supplied in its original ’26 Years of Blue Note’ advertising inner sleeve.
No reserve.
