To obtain Promo vinyl albums, 45's CD's or other promotional items you had to be a radio DJ or in the record business.  This is from the private collection of a former music industry veteran. 
It has been in (smoke and pet free) storage and has never been played.
The 3 LP's have never been removed from the record sleeve - promo was never shrink-wrapped. Has gold-foil promo stamp. Bottom two corners are worn as shown in photos from many years in storage.
GRATEFUL DEAD Without A Net Vinyl PROMO 3-LP Arista Al3-8634 Difficult to find 3 LP vinyl version. Released September 25, 1990. The RIAA certified the album as "Gold" on November 27, 1990.
Also included is a reproduction of the 1989 Rolling Stone Jerry Garcia interview that was included by Arista Records to promote the release.

A live album recorded during the Spring 1990 tour with some vocals re-dubbed in the studio. 
The Grateful Dead dedicated "Without A Net" to Clifton Hanger, which is a name that Brent Mydland used when registering at hotels. Brent Mydland died two months before this album's release. There is a really nice photo of him included in the liner notes of this CD. In the photo, his daughter is seated next to him on his piano bench.

By 1990, the Grateful Dead were something of ever-present psychedelic juggernaut on the American landscape, pausing only when crisis (like the erratic health of Jerry Garcia) forced them to take a break from touring. With their state-of-the-art sound technology, the addition of a second keyboardist, and frequent guest soloists, the band's sound grew even bigger. And the set lists became even more eclectic as the band added new cover songs to their set, including '60s nuggets like Traffic's "Dear Mr. Fantasy," which is included on this live set. Although Garcia has trouble reaching some of the high notes here, his inimitable guitar-playing still retains its allure, especially on "Althea," one of the finer songs to emerge from the Dead's later albums.WITHOUT A NET features some nifty tenor and soprano saxophone riffing by Branford Marsalis on the extended jam "Eyes of the World." There are also stirring versions of "Looks Like Rain," a longtime concert classic by Bob Weir, and the medley ""China Cat Sunflower" and "I Know You Rider."
