GREEN – Green. Lion Productions LION LP-143. SEALED VINYL RECORD ALBUM. Originally issued in 1986 on the band’s own Gang Green Records. This edition issued in 2014. First time vinyl reissued. Includes a lyric/band story insert. MEMBERS:   John Valley, Jeff Lescher, and John Diamond. TRACKS:  Gotta Getta Record Out, She’s Not A Little Girl Anymore, Technology, Curry Your Favor, Baby Why, I Play The Records, Better Way, If You Love me, I Don’t Wanna Say No, For You, Hurt You, She Probably, I’m Not Going Down (Anymore), and Big In Japan. DESCRIPTION:  Green arrived in the mid-1980s, amidst a Chicago scene that included bands like Naked Raygun, Big Black, and Ministry (and eventually, Material Issue and Smashing Pumpkins). Green bypassed the major label-express that many of those other bands rode to fame and fortune, and continued to make records in their own DIY way, records which were lauded in the pages of Trouser Press, Spin, and The Village Voice, among others. And with each passing year there are an increasing number of folks who are convinced that their debut album is worthy of those Mojo/VH1/Spin/ lists of the top 50 or 100 rock albums of all time. From the first pulsating exuberant notes of the intro, the band knows what they want to say:  Kids get ready, gotta rock steady, because they Gotta Getta Record Out, they are trying to Curry Your Favor, they play the records, and maybe most of all, they want to be Big In Japan! One astute reviewer said: "The band darts through decades of pop history as impatiently as the Spiral Scratch-era Buzzcocks, with band leader Jeff Lescher’s voice ranging from Princely falsetto to gravel-tinged field holler, but most often sounding as though someone stepped on Paul McCartney’s toes in 1965." And as another reviewer quite rightly said, "This is such a flawless pop masterpiece that I’m not even ashamed to trot out terms like 'flawless pop masterpiece.'" Green may be the bee’s knees for anglophile power poppers, but they deserve more notice than that; they were the kind of all-embracing band, with a taste for punk, glam rock, and soul—and with a twitchy sort of energy—of the sort that burbled around in the late-80s, pre-grunge underground (a little Feelies anyone?). It remains a mystery why other bands are fixed in the collective memory as the era's best—at the very least, Green should make a list of top obscure pop groups of all time! The insert includes a band history and lyrics, plus many a fine photo, all courtesy of Lescher.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers.

Packages are usually shipped in less than 72 hours. International delivery is largely determined on how long it takes your local customs to process its mail. RETURN POLICY:

Please e-mail me with specific details and I will get back to you with your options. I ask that if there is a problem with the item that you contact me as soon as possible after receiving it. Any item that must be returned is done so at the buyer’s expense. Any refund, exchange, or substitution/credit will be at the buyers choice, but not made until the original item is received back by me; in the condition as stated in the item description.  

NON-ARRIVAL OF PACKAGES:

Packages are not shipped with confirmation; this service is optional and available upon request at your expense, e-mail me before making payment so I can invoice you accordingly. It has been several years since I’ve had a package not make its US destination, so risk is minimal.

INTERNATIONAL Customers:  Please wait at least 3 weeks from my confirmed shipping date before contacting me about the non-arrival of your package. If security is your concern please have your package registered (see above for fee). I do my best to quickly post packages, but once the package is in the hands of the world’s postal systems it is beyond my control. With first class mail international my only option for investigating the loss of your package is to verify that it left this country to its destination country. Most all delayed/lost packages have disappeared/been delayed after they have reached their destination country. NOTE:  Based on recent buyer feedback, International packages have been moving much slower these days; it is not unusual for a package to take over three weeks for delivery (especially to Italy), though normally packages should arrive in 7 to 15 business days.
