My Sunday bonus item this week is an ORIGINAL EARLY 1940s-ERA U.S. DECCA RECORDS TRINIDAD CALYPSO 78 RPM record, Decca Records catalog number 17391. Side 1: 'History of Woodbrook Vicinity' - The Growler with Clemons Smith And This Broadway Syncopators; Side 2: 'Jim Congo Meyer' - Atilla The Hun and Lord Executor with Audley Francis Washboard Orchestra. Visual condition of play surface is a low VG+ with a moderate to fair amount of surface marks, scuffs, and very light scratches, none of which can be felt and none of which will affect play. Record also has a slow warp which will preclude its playing with a lightweight tone arm, you will have to play this record using a somewhat heavier weight tone arm and it will play fine with a little background surface noise. There are a couple of very tiny bumps in the lacquer play surface, this may cause a very slight bumping sound for a couple of revolutions, no skips. Record has no cracks, surface or sub-surface, and no chips. Labels have a little residue from previously removed small stickers, some contact wear, and some wear around the center hole on both sides. Record will be shipped double packed - The record will first be placed in a standard professional cardboard LP mailer with extra cardboard flats on both sides of the record inside the mailer, and the mailer will then be placed into a larger box with cushioning material on both sides of the mailer inside the outer box. I will cover the cost of postal insurance on this shipment, I would not ship a fragile 78 RPM record uninsured. This rare 78 would make a choice addition to any vintage calypso or Carribean music record collection!
