GURU GURU Känguru (Brain 1007) RARE German 1st Pressing Green Brain EX+
RARE German first pressing of Guru Guru`s third album "Känguru" on Brain Records (March 1972). Engineered by Conny Plank.
Arguably, the two albums Guru Guru released on the Brain label were the finest of their illustrious career. "Känguru" was the first of these and mixes spacey Krautrock workouts, improvisational jazz-inspired interludes and commercial accessibility with ease: As fine a place to start listening to Guru Guru as any!
"When speaking about Krautrock, Guru Guru were often neglected and put in the "second division" of that music style, after the "big four": Can, Faust, Neu and Amon Düül II. But their third album Känguru is easily the best of their early, classic line-up trio of Neumeier, Trepte and Genrich. Filled with crazy and nonsense lyrics, extended space jams and druggy guitar solos, this album is a high point of their first phase, before going into more jazzy exploration on the subsequent albums. EX COVER in overall fine condition. Please see photos for details.
- Original laminated gatefold sleeve.
- Minor creasing to the spine, as well as along top and bottom edges.
- Pristine inner gatefold with no writing or creasing.
- Small corner bump at bottom right.
- Tiny area of laminate lift on front cover (at top right).
- Light record imprint on back cover only.
EX RECORD with a few minor signs of previous play.
- Light visible wear on both sides, with near-impeccable audio reproduction throughout.
- A bit of hairlining to both sides causes intermittent background crackle in between some tracks and quiet passages.
- A small thumbnail scuff (1 inch long; not a scratch!) on Side Two is absolutely inaudible.
- A tiny scratch (3 mm; in "Baby Cake Walk") is also inaudible.
- First-pressing green Brain Records labels with no spindle wear at all.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "st-1007-A 0664.147s1" and "st-1007-B 0664.147s2"
- This record is certified to be an original German first pressing of "Känguru", recorded in March 1972.
