Description
GUSTAV MAHLER, PIANIST – RECORDED 1904-6
This one is a real rarity. There is no record number and the labels are hand-written in mauve ink on a white glossy surface that has “ACA Recording Studios Inc, Houston” printed in a dark mauve colour (see photos).
The contents played by Gustav Mahler (recorded circa 1905) are: (one side) Funeral March (5th Symphony) Welte #769, Das Hummlische Leben (4th Symphony) Welte #770, re-recorded from Welte Reproducing
Piano Rolls, Hollywood, California, 1963. The other side is: Ging Heute morgen über Feld (Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen) Welte #767, and has the name Kenneth K Caswell, Houston, Texas – presumably the recording/transcribing engineer?
The record and inner & outer sleeves are in excellent condition apart from a 5 cm. slit extending along the top edge of the outer sleeve from the opening. The outer sleeve is plain brown card with no company logo. The brown inner is overprinted by Audio Devices Inc, 444 Madison Avenue, New York 22.
