Description

Vintage original Galaxie 500 test pressing (1990) from the personal collection of Damon & Naomi from Galaxie 500. Presented in one-of-a-kind sleeve designed, handmade and signed by Naomi Yang in 2025.
From the Galaxie 500 Test Pressing series:

13. This Is Our Music - 1990

Rough Trade UK (ROUGH 156) (Pantone 485)

This is number 13 of 16 Galaxie 500 test pressings, each in a unique sleeve designed by Naomi as a series in 2025. The sleeves feature images from Naomi’s archive of sketches and mechanicals used to create the commercial cover art for each corresponding Galaxie 500 release. In the same way that a test pressing is needed to make a final LP, these sketches and mechanicals were used to create the final artwork for the original release.

The image created for each album's test pressing has been mounted on an piece of original Pantone color paper from the late 80’s, also from Naomi’s archive, then stamped and hand labeled and signed by Naomi in 2025. Pantone color papers were crucial to the pre-digital design work that Naomi employed on all the original Galaxie 500 releases. Each test pressing in the series uses a different Pantone color - each number in the series is unique.
Number 13 from the series is a test pressing for Galaxie 500's third album, This Is Our Music, their last studio album and their last for Rough Trade Records. This number is from the UK pressing (ROUGH 156, 1990).
All test pressings from the Galaxie 500 series are sold as is, these LPs have not been played since they served their purpose as tests before original commercial release. It is the nature of test pressings that they are sometimes flawed.
The complete series of 16 can be viewed at the 20.20.20 Records website, or see the final three images in this listing. NOTE THIS AUCTION IS FOR ONE TEST PRESSING ONLY, NUMBER 13 OF THE SERIES.
