A killer piece of mid-60s garage rock history, The Hangmen are a cult favorite among collectors, known for their raw, fuzz-driven sound and proto-psychedelic edge. Monument Records—home to artists like Roy Orbison—adds further historical weight, and Fred Foster’s production connects this record to one of the most influential producers of the era.
This copy clearly shows taped label sections to preserve worn areas along with handwritten “1967” marking, consistent with DJ handling and archival practices. Visible wear and reinforcement give it that authentic, working-copy feel highly prized by collectors.
It comes from the private collection of a legendary Detroit crate-digger and one-time DJ and that it bears the marks of his preservation techniques, such as taping the parts that might wear off and lightly etching the year of the record release. This is framed as provenance and gets the buyer excited about a “piece of rock history from an epic collection of rare 45’s, filled with dj copies and promos of early northern soul, doo-woo, rockabilly, detroit garage and psyche rock.”
