Very high grade Gary Numan HYBRID double-vinyl LP. Number 462.
You’ll know this LP doesn't often turn up. It was sold to me many years ago as unplayed and I’ve never played it.
The two records look unplayed and are gleaming and shiny. The label centres are clean and as-new. I can detect a few vague scuff marks here and there on the vinyl itself, like you can get on new records.
I cannot vouch for the playing quality as my turntable is NG at the moment and I wouldn't play this album anyway – so it is sold to you on the honest and truthful understanding between seller and buyer that it is an unplayed top copy - but without guarantees.
As to the gatefold sleeve, it’s as if, when they designed this (as with the Sacrifice LP sleeve which is printed on the same semi-matt card) they used a finish that was deliberately intended to show up every sodding mark.
It’s a nice, sharp clean sleeve with near perfect corners and is as about as "mint" as you're gonna get IMHO. There are some vague hairline scuff and curved surface marks if you angle it to the light, and a few “pressure cracks” along the top edge mostly near the left corner. There’s a light “thumb crease” on the front which you can see on some of the pics.
You can also make out the extremely vague outline of the disc on the front if you angle it to the light, as on the first photo - but I wouldn’t describe it as a bona-fide ring marking. The lighting on the first photo makes it look worse than it is. You can't see it when you hold the album in front of you. I’ve always kept it vertical in an LP case inside a heavy duty PVC sleeve.
In proper record grading terms - i.e. not looking through the wrong end of a telescope - I’d grade the sleeve as somewhere between strong EX+ and Near Mint.
The two inners also are printed on deadly shiny paper that shows every flipping bump and blemish. I don’t handle these records with white cotton gloves but come close, washing my hands several times.
There are some fingerprints on the inners and a fair few other minor scuffs, dinks, and marks. But it’s how the album was when I got it and it still feels "new". I’ve bought shrinkwrapped vinyl which has greasy fingerprints and dinks on the inners. It's how they come from the factory.
One of the inners has some surface damage shown on photo 5, where a small patch of shiny surface paper has torn away.
Please note that as the sleeves are shiny and black, there will be overall specks of dust on them, as there will be on the discs themselves (check out photo 6). It’s impossible to avoid it.
The record will be mailed to you in the pro heavy duty double pizza box mailer shown on the final photo. It is effectively a cruciform within a pizza box mailer. None of your dodgy bloody “record envelope with stiffeners” nonsense here.
Finally, the album will be in a polybag as well as being wrapped in paper to avoid scuffing before it goes in the mailer. I’ll also throw in the original PVC sleeve but let you put HYBRID back in it as it’s always a bit of a faff getting gatefold records in and out of them.
All of my parcels are sent tracked by eBay - so proof of posting and actual dispatch date are automatically filed on my eBay account.
