Description

This piece is a Gary Sugal gold plated copper Kurt Whalum II model. No nicks, no dents, only minor scratches

you'd expect from a well cared for used piece. The KW II is a powerful, bright and aggresive mouthpiece designed

for jazz, rock and blues. The 8* model has a 115 tip opening. I have two of these in my mouthpiece "arsenal";

my 7* is a 105 tip - I've moved to stiffer reeds for my current tone/playing style, and  the 115 is too open for me

now. It plays beautifully with 2 1/2's Ricos, Rico Plasticovers or Fibracell synthetics. The KW II sells new for

about $654 (WWBW current price); so this auction should be a bargain for those looking for a top quality,

top-of-the-line metal mouthpiece. I am a professional player, have tried/owned Runyons, Bergs. Rovners

metals; and the KW II is the best of all of them. Good luck - and if you win it, you'll be quite happy, I'm sure.

One more comment for clarification - based on some questions I've received from potential bidders, I want

to reiterate that I'm not selling the Sugal because it doesn't play well, or is inferior in some way. I'm an

older player (66); my embrochure and wind/breathing has changed; and except for my Sugal KW II 7*,

I am playing exclusively with HR pieces now. The Sugal is the best metal piece I've ever played.

NOTE; I am relisting this item - $275 (the highest bid on my previous reserve auction) is too low for

this piece. I have lowered the reserve. This is an excellent Sugal, ready to play; Sugal's do vary a

little; so chances are if you bought a new one for $650 or so, you'd probably end up spending another

$100 or more having a mouthpiece guy adjust it (at least that's what my co-professional musician friends

tell me). This is a steal even at my Buy It Now Price!
