Genesis/Hackett-related prog-psych: Quiet World 'The Visitor' Pye 7" '71 single

Description

Quiet World were an English band formed by The Heather Brothers John, Lee, and Neil Heather in 1969; to record their concept album "The Road". The group consisted of John, Lea, and Neil, as well as future Genesis member Steve Hackett and his brother John Hackett. Little did they know what wheels they had put in motion, leading to the behemoth which was Genesis. But the music Quiet World made was pretty decent in its own right, and this 1971 Pye (7N45074) single, 'The Visitor' was a minor classic of its type - teamed with another excellent song, 'Sam'. Both were very prog in style, with psych hints to be heard. This single came to me direct from the record company to review. I think I was very positive about it in print, but there was so much music of this type to gorge on in those days that it was soon stored away, so has not acquired many plays over the years and is comfortably in VG condition, playing better than that rating, too. It comes with an original, stylish,lightish blue cover, also showing little damage from the 47 years it has been around. This is not only essential for Genesis completists but all of those looking to trace the early roots of prog as it evolved from psych need to be aware of this material.
